Yoga, with its holistic approach, recognizes that our existence extends beyond the physical body. It acknowledges the presence of subtle bodies, which are energetic layers that interconnect and influence our physical, mental, and spiritual well-being. 1. The Five Koshas: Layers of Being


According to yogic philosophy, the human being is composed of five koshas or sheaths, which represent different levels of existence. 4. Manomaya Kosha: The Mental Sheath

5. Vijnanamaya Kosha: The Intellectual Sheath


The Vijnanamaya Kosha relates to wisdom, intuition, and higher knowledge. It is associated with discernment, insight, and the ability to access deeper truths. Cultivating self-inquiry, studying sacred texts, and engaging in self-reflection practices support the refinement and expansion of this kosha.


6. Anandamaya Kosha: The Blissful Sheath


The Anandamaya Kosha represents our innermost essence, characterized by a state of bliss and interconnectedness. It transcends the boundaries of the individual self and opens us to a profound sense of unity and oneness with all of creation. Spiritual practices, devotion, and selfless service cultivate and awaken this kosha, allowing us to experience the sublime bliss within.
